Started with one market table

In March 2019, after eight years cooking in a local wholefood café, the baker set out to build a business alongside a partner.

The first step was simple: one Friday, a hot pan of soup and a few sourdough loaves at Minehead Farmers Market. The shop on Friday Street came later.

in the baker's words

“A hot pan of soup and a few sourdough loaves.”

In March 2019 the baker left a much-loved job as a cook in a local wholefood café, after eight years, to start something new with a partner.

The first market day was soup and a handful of loaves. Three years later, the bakers called themselves happy, with “truly amazing customers”.

Kindness is mostly patience.

The Kind Kitchen started in 2019 at Minehead's Friday farmers market, with soup and a few sourdough loaves. The baker had spent eight years cooking in a local wholefood café before that.

The approach hasn't changed: naturally leavened bread, vegetarian savouries, pastries and cake, made by hand with local and organic ingredients where possible.
